Warcon Records has announced that the Street Drum Corps have been tapped to join the much-anticipated MTV 2 $ 2 Bill Tour with headliners 30 Seconds to Mars and support acts Head Automatica and Cobra Starship. Kicking off October 17 in Minnesota, the tour will hit 30 cities in a little over a month before celebrating its finale in Los Angeles on November 25.
The Street Drum Corps, who rose to fame in early 2006 with their debut album and successful appearances on the Warped Tour and the Taste of Chaos Tour, is a punk, rock drumming trio that uses innovative instruments like hand drums, acoustic drum kits, buckets, kitchenware, recycled aluminum garbage cans, marching band equipment and a Moog Theremin to create their progressive sound.
Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman calls the band "Punk Rock STOMP" and was so impressed after seeing their performance on the Warped Tour that he signed the group to his own record label Warcon Records. Since then, the band has released several singles and shared the stage with members of STOMP, No Doubt, Bad Religion, Good Charlotte, Atreyu, 30 Seconds To Mars, Strung Out, Alexis On Fire, and many others. Bert McCracken of The Used has performed with Street Drum Corps several times, and performs with them for the song "Flaco 81" as well as part of his own band's set on their current tour.
The members of SDC are currently featured in an advertisement for Ahead's Laser Drumsticks, Peta, Hurley, Monster Energy, Draven Shoes, Protection Racket, and Thunder Echo Drums. SDC is featured in the new Las Vegas reality show "INKED" which debuted on the A&E Channel.
All shows on the MTV 2 $ 2 Bill Concert Tour are all-ages and a limited number of $ 2 tickets per city will be made available in a special internet pre-sale sponsored by MTV2 and 30STM. And the best part? All the vehicles on the road for $ 2Bill will be using bio-diesel fuel.
